That's certainly the case in "In A Future World," a winsome retro-futurist anthem full of serrated rhythms and infectious hooks, and in the iridescent ballad "Sleep In," which is enlivened by pitch-shifted samples and the robotic voiceover of an old Speak & Spell straight out of an '80s sci-fi adventure. In spite of the glossier production and dance-ready pulse, Telekinesis' knack for memorable melodies still shines throughout Ad Infinitum. It's an elegant yet minimal sound that recalls the buzzy synth-pop of New Order ("Edgewood"), the experimental textures of Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark ("Falling ") and the windswept beauty of "Plainsong"-era Cure and Angelo Badalamenti scores ("Ad Infinitum Pt. It blends the vintage with the sleekly modern while taking full advantage of his array of synths - each of which expresses a unique color, from icy beats and ping-ponging blips to silvery shimmers. Telekinesis' most fully developed record yet, the resulting Ad Infinitum represents a musical transformation. Essentially, he relearned how to make music with an entirely different toolset.īut all that time-consuming effort paid off. But as he documents in a wonderfully detailed essay, Lerner delved deeper, first teaching himself how to make these electronics from disparate eras all talk to each other, and then figuring out how to utilize them to create actual songs. With that album's highlight, "Ghosts And Creatures," and the band's concert cover of INXS' "Don't Change," Telekinesis had already hinted at a new direction. While each previous album was recorded quickly in other studios - with producers Chris Walla and Spoon's Jim Eno - Lerner designed and built his own home basement studio in Seattle, then began amassing a small army of analog synthesizers and drum machines, with which he'd grown infatuated while making 2013's Dormarion. Writer's block can be a paralyzing frustration, riddled with second-guessing and false starts, but one of the best ways to push through it is to throw out what feels most comfortable and try something unexpected. After three albums of fuzzy and fizzy power pop, the singer, songwriter, drummer and mastermind behind Telekinesis felt sapped of ideas, as if he'd taken his guitar-driven sound as far as it could go. Barring a few illogical scenes here and there, the narration part is just about okay and those who love concept thrillers can only give this film a shot during this weekend.Michael Benjamin Lerner was stuck. On the whole, A(Ad Infinitum) is a thriller which deals with a different concept related to the pituitary gland in the brain system. The background score by Vijay Kurakula is super as it adds depth to the proceedings in all the key scenes. The cinematography by Praveen K Bangari is apt for the film’s genre. Production values by Geetha Minsala’s production house are decent.Įditing work is good as the film hardly has unwanted scenes. If he would have taken time in exploring the core concept in an even better way, the result would have been unanimous. Adding to it, a man doing experiments from the past thirty years that too in a forest area by hiding from cops also misses logic.ĭirector cum screenwriter, Ugandhar Muni succeeded to an extent in presenting his idea in a decent manner. There are a few illogical scenes like kidnapping roadside kids and cops unable to trace the culprit even after the incidents get recorded in CCTV footage look silly. The idea behind the film’s title A(Ad Infinitum) has no justification in the proceedings. Though the core concept has been projected in a decent manner, it had a solid scope to present in an even more gripping and engaging manner which was missed by the director. The interval block and the core concept of Brain Ageing have been projected with thrilling elements in the second half.Īll the other artists, who did key roles in the contemporary time period and flashback episode are apt in their given roles. Nithiin Prasanna as the male lead did a decent job in his character which has multiple shades. Preethi Asrani as the middle-class homemaker gave a good performance in her purposeful role. The family drama between Sanjiv and Pallavi has been narrated in an authentic manner. The entire first half runs on a decent note maintaining the suspense factor in Sanjiv’s character.

See image below for an example of what I mean. Instead of just redacting the social security number for example, you also lose nearby content that could be above, below, left, and right of what you were targeting. Some tools can redact just fine, but they are what I call too ‘loose’. Use a tool that has a clean redaction.A good PDF redaction tool will clean up all those, and more, during sanitization. Search indexes and review comments are also good hiding spots for sensitive data. Previous versions of documents can contain information we thought is redacted, making it readily available. As I mentioned before, the document’s metadata can contain sensitive information. Make sure the document is sanitized after the redaction.Such tools are more common than you would think, so let me give you some pointers on redaction: But, what if we use a tool that claims to redact a document, but does a poor job? How do you know? You want to use a tool that is designed for proper redaction. Furthermore, this text can be searched for, and changing the font color back to a visible one is easy. Simply selecting all the text on a page will reveal all the “hidden” text. This is perhaps the least secure of all the incorrect redaction methods available. The idea is that if you can’t see the text, it’s not there. Properly redacting a document will take care of all of those issues.Īnother common mistake while attempting to redact a document is to change the font color of sensitive information to simply match the background. Metadata can also contain previously deleted content, or references to it. Those versions will contain previously deleted content. A lot of tools keep versions of a document without us ever realizing that. What if we decide to manually select and delete the content, and then manually add a black box over it? Aside from this being a laborious process, there are some major downsides to it. We focus on the optional black box that goes over the content, and don’t realize the content is still readily available in the document. The most common example of incorrectly redacted documents is the one that I started the article with. An additional step is to sanitize the document, cleaning up sneaky data like metadata, bookmarks, links, and anything that could have content in it that you do not want availableĪs you can see, if those steps are not followed properly, many things can go wrong, and you might end up distributing documents that still contain sensitive information. The redaction annotations are reviewed and applied, permanently removing the content.
